The Mathematics Division is part of the Department of Mathematical Sciences and has 23 members of academic staff, as well as several graduate students on honours, masters and doctoral level.

The research activities of the Mathematics Division span a range of subject areas, including Combinatorics, Lattice Theory, Algebraic Number Theory, Arithmetic Algebraic Geometry, Algebra, Topology and Category Theory, Functional Analysis, Discrete Mathematics, Wavelets and Subdivision Analysis, Mathematical Finance, Mathematical Biology.

Several seminar groups are active with weekly meetings, as well as regular colloquium talks by visitors to the Department.
